Themed BOOKENDS: "Better Together" or "In Between the Lines"
Students will create a a pair of bookend using the slab construction, additive & subtractive method of hand building. Research, reflection, and sketch journal work encouraged to find students voice for theme.

• Use of slab templates for horizontal and vertical plane of each bookend.
• Coil building or Subtractive method of hand building for students having difficulty with additive methods.
• Use of stamps or letters stamps to add interest, texture, variety or unity.
• Offer easy grip tools. Clearly label tools and the areas where materials are kept.
• Offer peer assistance when forming bookends.
• Make sure student has a direct view of you when demonstrating.
• Provide a printed copy of instructions with illustrations for reference.
